Last week I went to my middle school, the Fenn School, and got to chat before the All-School Meeting. The school senate donated all of the proceeds from their games night to help me with my drive to Beijing. It was a great honor to have the school supporting me.
Training has been going amazing over the past month and I am very excited to race in Vancouver and Des Moines. Ethan Brown has been living with us for the past few weeks and it has been fun to have a training partner.

I am finally on my way home from training camp. My trip home included a stopover in Kansas City where I got to cheer on and inspire some local kids at the Hormel/Hy Vee Kids Triathlon. It was a lot of fun and I am very excited to go to two more of these kids races in Sioux City, Iowa and Rochester, MN.
As for training that has been going great and my race in Mazatlan went as well as it could. The pack I was in decided to give 3 minutes to the leaders so I was running with a deficit that I knew I could not make up on one athlete. I ended up running 1 minute and 30 seconds back into him with a 31:07 10km run. My fitness is exactly where I want it to be right now and I am very excited to step back into and get ready for my next racing block which includes Vancouver World Championships and Des Moines Hy Vee Triathlon.

My race season kicked off today as I ran the Carlsbad 5000m. It was a picture perfect day on the water with light winds. I ended up running 14:32 and winning the race. I am excited to start off the season with a fast race and I hope that it bodes well for my season.
I leave for Ishigaki on Tuesday morning and am excited for my first World Cup of the season. I have been keeping an eye on the first two races and there have been some amazing performances so far, I am quite excited to see how fit I am.

The training out here is going, the weather has been awesome and we have only had 2 days with sub optimal training conditions. In general we have had 75-80 degrees during the day with sunny skies, basically perfect triathlon weather. This past Sunday night I was interviewed by Bob Babbitt and Paul Huddle on the Competitors radio show (as soon as they post the podcast I will put up the link). It was my first time in a real radio studio and was quite a lot of fun.
